UNDP Sustainable Insurance Forum (SIF) Biannual Meeting

We are proud to announce that the Insurance Commission of The Bahamas participated in the UNDP Sustainable Insurance Forum (SIF) Biannual Meeting held in Tirana, Albania, marking our first attendance as new members of this vital global initiative.

The Sustainable Insurance Forum (SIF), convened by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), is a global network of insurance supervisors and regulators collaborating to enhance the industry's response to sustainability challenges, including climate change, resilience, and inclusive finance. SIF plays a pivotal role in shaping supervisory leadership and aligning insurance practices with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

This year's meeting, held in conjunction with the IAIS Annual Conference, brought together global insurance supervisors and partners to review the proposed 2026–2027 strategy and align on priorities for SIF's next chapter. The session also marked the beginning of preparations for SIF's 10th anniversary in 2026, a milestone that will define the Forum's future ambitions.

The Commission's participation underscores The Bahamas' commitment to sustainable development and proactive engagement in global regulatory dialogue. As a small island developing state, The Bahamas faces unique climate-related risks, making our voice and perspective essential in shaping inclusive and resilient insurance frameworks worldwide.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Ms. Fundi Tshazibana, Deputy Governor of the South African Reserve Bank and newly appointed Chair of SIF, for her leadership, and to the organizers for hosting a productive and forward-looking meeting.

Together, we move forward in building a more sustainable and resilient global insurance sector.
